Rick Neff – Programming Coordinator
Rick Neff is a Doctor of Clinical Psychology, Licensed Professional Counselor, and CrossFit Level 1 Trainer who possesses a strong passion for education, athletics, fitness, and CrossFit. Having been a successful student-athlete throughout his high school and college years, and currently a competitive CrossFit athlete with a passion for mental training, Rick brings a unique perspective to CrossFit UnFinished Project.
Rick specializes not only in instructing CrossFit classes, but also in providing athletes with a mental edge in the classroom, on the field, and in the gym. Rick strongly believes that mental training and mental health is as important, if not more important than, physical training and physical health. Often times the preconscious mind will affect athletic performance. Rick helps athletes and coaches become more aware of this phenomenon.
“The understanding of the synthesis between mental health and physical health is of utmost importance to student-athletes and athletes of all levels who want to succeed; but it is often overlooked because of the reliance on physical talent alone.” – Rick Neff
Rick earned his Doctor of Clinical Psychology Degree graduating Magna Cum Laude and Master of Art’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Immaculata University. Rick earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Bio-Evolutionary Psychology from Penn State. Rick has been a “CrossFitter” since 2012, as a member of CrossFit Pottstown until joining CrossFit UnFinished Project. Rick earned his CrossFit Level 1 Trainer Certificate in 2013 in King of Prussia, PA.
Jessica Schubach – Coach
Jessica first discovered CrossFit back in January 2013. While playing soccer and lacrosse at Shippensburg University, Jessica always felt like she was in good shape. CrossFit completely changed her perception of what “fit” was. Once she completed her first WOD (Workout of the Day), Jessica quickly realized that CrossFit was not your ordinary fitness routine, and instantly became hooked.
“Growing up playing sports all my life, I’ve always had that competitive drive in me. From when I was a little girl, to the years of playing college sports, I always strived to be the best I could be.” – Jessica Schubach
Doing CrossFit for over a year has made Jessica realize that people CrossFit for all types of reasons. Whether it’s just to stay in shape, workout with and meet new friends, or to get to the next level and compete, everyone comes for one main reason; to better themselves. Which is why she had grown to love the sport.
“The WODs, community, and overall positive atmosphere of just being at the box is why I keep coming back. There is always something you can be working on to improve yourself, making it a never ending journey. Working out in an environment with like-minded driven people has really helped me to push myself harder than ever before, and not just physically, but mentally as well. CrossFit has brought back that competitive fire in me that I thought I would never relive.”
Jessica is not only a CrossFit Level 1 Certified coach, but also a competitive CrossFit Athlete. Jessica is a 2014 CrossFit Games Regional Competitor (Team, 26th Place). And has also competed in the Mid Atlantic Affiliate Challenge (RX Team Division), South Philly Rumble (RX Team Division), and CrossFit Generation Summer Slam (Team).
